About the Role
Are you passionate about helping people secure stable housing and vital financial support? Bench Outreach is looking for a dedicated volunteer to join our Deptford team on Mondays. In this role, you will provide crucial, practical support to local community members navigating housing applications and welfare benefit claims.
This position is ideal for someone looking to build real-world experience in housing advocacy, community work, or advice services, with opportunities to expand your role.
Key Responsibilities
- First Point of Contact: Answer phone calls and respond to community enquiries with warmth and empathy.
- Housing & Benefits Support: Guide clients through filling out complex housing applications, social housing forms, and benefit claims.
- General Admin: Keep clear records and assist with day-to-day administrative tasks to support the delivery of our advocacy services.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong communication and listening skills with a compassionate, non-judgmental approach.
- Basic IT literacy and comfort navigating online application forms.
- Reliability, confidentiality, and a genuine commitment to helping vulnerable people.
- No prior experience in housing or benefits is required—full training will be provided to the right candidate.
